Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations – 7-Hour Appraiser CE Class
As of January 1, 2026, all real estate appraisers renewing a license or certification will have had to complete a 7-hour class entitled Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations. This is a new requirement established by the Appraiser Qualifications Board.
Regardless of how appraisers feel about the subject or the AQB’s requirement, I can promise that in my presentations of the class, I’ll be delivering real-world, current information about fair housing/bias claims and matters. What do real cases look like? How has the subject changed during the Trump administration?
I am an attorney. I’ve worked exclusively on matters concerning real estate valuation for almost 20 years. I’ve represented appraisers and firms in matters alleging discrimination before HUD, the CFPB and state appraiser regulators. At the same time, I’ve also worked for and learned from fair housing advocacy organizations. I bring all of these experiences into teaching the subject matter.
